Shakur Stevenson has signed a multiyear, multifight deal with Zuffa Boxing, bringing one of boxing’s top unbeaten champions under Dana White’s promotional banner.
Stevenson, an undefeated four-division boxing champion and Olympic silver medalist, joins Zuffa Boxing with a professional record of 25-0 with 11 knockouts. He previously held world championships at featherweight, junior lightweight, lightweight and junior welterweight.
UFC CEO Dana White, who leads Zuffa Boxing with backing from TKO and Saudi Arabia's Sela, highlighted the move as part of the company’s rapid push into the sport. "Seven months ago, we got in the boxing business, started Zuffa Boxing, and you know, my goal has always been, not just in the UFC, but with the sport of boxing – I've talked a lot of smack about boxing in the past, about the best not fighting the best," White said. "In the last seven months, we've been able to secure some of the top fighters in the world, and we're very excited about this signing. We have signed Shakur Stevenson to a multiyear, multifight deal with Zuffa Boxing."
Stevenson outlined his ambitions under the new deal. "I want to make the biggest and best fights happen, and show the world that I am the best in the world," he said. "My main focus right now, I would think, is Devin Haney or Gervonta 'Tank' Davis. Them the guys who I think would show that I'm the one."
Zuffa Boxing was started approximately seven months before the time of the article and also features Conor Benn, Jai Opetaia, Richardson Hitchins and Edgar Berlanga on its roster. Stevenson's most recent fight was a WBO and Ring Magazine title bout against Teofimo Lopez in January, which he won by unanimous decision.
