Umar Nurmagomedov vs. Song Yadong Set to Headline UFC Shanghai
02-07-26

Umar Nurmagomedov and Song Yadong will headline UFC Shanghai on Aug. 29 in China, topping the promotion’s return to Shanghai for the second consecutive year.

The bantamweight matchup anchors the card as the UFC continues its run of events in China. More fights for the UFC Shanghai card are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Nurmagomedov was originally scheduled to compete at the UFC Abu Dhabi card in July before his opponent David Martinez withdrew due to injury. He enters the Shanghai main event with a 20-1 record, with his only loss coming by decision to Merab Dvalishvili.

Song rides the momentum of a recent submission win over Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC Macau in May and is 2-2 in his past four fights. Over that stretch, he owns victories over Deiveson Figueiredo and Henry Cejudo, with losses to Sean O’Malley and Petr Yan.

The winner of Nurmagomedov vs. Song is positioned to potentially challenge for the bantamweight title, adding major divisional stakes to the UFC’s August return to Shanghai.
