Olympic gold medalist and UFC heavyweight Gable Steveson is set to return to the wrestling mat, as he faces former college opponent Anthony Cassioppi at RAF 12 on Aug. 22 at Rocket Arena in Cleveland.
The event marks the one-year anniversary show for Real American Freestyle, with Steveson booked in a wrestling match against Cassioppi. It will be Steveson’s latest appearance for the promotion after previously competing at RAF 9 in May.
Steveson enters RAF 12 with momentum from both MMA and wrestling. He owns a 4-0 MMA record and a 1-0 UFC record, and he most recently defeated Elisha Ellison by first-round knockout at UFC 329 earlier this month. In his last RAF outing, he defeated Alexandr Romanov at RAF 9.
Following his UFC 329 win, Steveson expressed interest in a fall return, potentially at the UFC's annual Madison Square Garden event in New York City. For now, his next confirmed assignment is back in Cleveland, where he’ll revisit an old rivalry under the Real American Freestyle banner.
