UFC Welterweight Tim Means Arrested on Child Abuse Charge in New Mexico

UFC welterweight Tim Means was arrested in his home state of New Mexico on Wednesday on a child abuse charge involving his 17-year-old daughter.

According to key facts from the case, police were called on Monday, April 21 regarding a reported physical altercation between Means and his daughter. Court records indicate the case is still open, and Means was released on Friday following his arrest.

Details in the complaint describe alleged injuries to the teen. The complaint states, "Let it be known that there were visible hand and red marks on (the teen’s) neck, indicating she was strangled," and adds, "There was blood on and in her nose where she was head-butted and several red marks indicated she was hit in the face and on her cheek." The incident is also described in a "strangulating manner."

Means is a longtime UFC welterweight who first joined the promotion in 2012, returned in 2014, and has competed at 170 pounds since then. He has lost five of his last six bouts and holds an overall professional record of 33-17-1 (1) with a 14-15 UFC record.
