UFC veteran Jay Silva has died less than a week after his 45th birthday, ending a 17-year professional MMA career.
A representative from Polish MMA promotion FAME MMA announced Silva’s passing on social media. A cause of death has not been revealed.
"It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of FAME fighter Jay Silva," the representative stated. They added, "Through his performances, Jay brought a great smile, positive energy, and the professionalism of a true athlete. He will forever remain a part of our federation’s history! We extend our sincerest condolences to Jay’s loved ones, family, and friends. Rest in peace!"
Silva compiled a 12-14-1 professional record and fought twice in the UFC, dropping decision losses to CB Dollaway and Chris Leben. He also competed in Bellator MMA and other promotions, including bouts against Plinio Cruz, Mariusz Pudzianowski, and Denis Labryga.
Silva’s most recent fight was a unanimous decision loss to Denis Labryga at FAME 25 in April 2025.
