The UFC has released a new promotional video hyping the long-awaited rematch between Conor McGregor and Max Holloway, set to headline UFC 329 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Saturday July 11th.
McGregor is returning to competition at UFC 329 after over 1,800 days away to face Holloway for a second time. Their first meeting came in 2013, when McGregor won by unanimous decision with scores of 30-27, 30-27, and 30-26, handing Holloway what became the third UFC loss of his career.
Looking back on that first fight, Holloway said, "The first time I fight Conor, that was thirteen years ago," and added, "After that fight, I had a two loss streak. My next fight, if you lose, you probably get your papers going home. And I was like, ‘Brother, I’m not going home yet. I got a belt I need to win.’ I was wanting to fight the best guys and prove that the best is ‘Blessed.’"
McGregor, meanwhile, is framing the Holloway rematch as part of a bigger push, as he views it as a step toward pursuing a third title at welterweight. He did not hold back when addressing Holloway, stating, "Max is my child," and, "When we first competed, I sonned him. I’m going to go in and son him again." He continued, "These men are not on my level. It is on me now to go and show that, and that’s what I will do. I’m going through Max. It is what it is."
