Tresean Gore delivered a massive shock at UFC Fight Night 272, submitting Azamat Bekoev on the prelims in what was described as the biggest upset in the UFC so far in 2026.
The bout took place at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas, where Gore tapped Bekoev despite entering with a 7-4 MMA record and 3-4 UFC mark. Bekoev came in at 20-5 in MMA, 2-2 in the UFC, and was an 8-1 betting favorite.
After the win, Gore kept his celebration measured. "There's work to be done," he said, later adding, "Azamat is not a champion. He's not Khamzat. When I'm putting Khamzat to sleep, then I'll pat myself on the back a little more. Until then, I've got work to do."
Gore revealed he stopped using marijuana five months before the fight and used his moment on the mic to ask UFC CEO Dana White for a $100,000 performance bonus, saying it would help his son's education. He ultimately received a $25,000 finish bonus.
Elsewhere on the card, Tommy McMillen, described as a protege of former UFC champion Sean O'Malley, cashed in with a dominant showing. A 10-1 betting favorite, McMillen scored a one-sided TKO in less than one round and was awarded $100,000 for Fight of the Night.
