Tom Aspinall Back in Full Training, Targets Ciryl Gane Rematch

Tom Aspinall has returned to full training and is targeting a rematch with Ciryl Gane after the eye injury that halted their first meeting in the main event of UFC 321.

Aspinall’s eye injury against Gane required multiple surgeries and kept him out of full training for several months. Eight months on, he says he is now preparing specifically for Gane.

“Back in full training for the Ciryl Gane fight, and we’re currently in talks with the UFC,” Aspinall said.

During his recovery, Aspinall also worked on a new project, announcing a podcast titled *The Inner Game*, filmed between February and March. “We filmed The Inner Game during my recovery between February and March, and those conversations genuinely helped me through a tough time. These episodes will be coming out over the next 12 weeks while I’m in camp. Hope you enjoy Episode 1.”

The Heavyweight division was on hold during Aspinall’s recovery. Ciryl Gane is described as the interim Heavyweight champion after knocking out Alex Pereira at UFC Freedom 250.

UFC’s numbered event schedule is booked until August, and UFC 333 in Abu Dhabi has been mentioned as a potential target for Aspinall vs. Gane 2. Aspinall had previously agreed to rematch Gane at UFC Paris in September, which is not a numbered pay-per-view event.
