Tatiana Suarez made a statement on the UFC 327 prelims, submitting Loopy Godinez by rear-naked choke at the Kaseya Center.
Suarez secured the finish at 2:29 of Round 2, handing Godinez the first stoppage loss of her professional career. With the win, Suarez improved her record to 12-1 in MMA and 9-1 in the UFC, while Godinez dropped to 14-6 overall and 9-6 in the promotion.
The result marked the first time any opponent has stopped Godinez inside the cage.
Suarez, 35, has now won back-to-back fights since a failed title bid against Zhang Weili, previously rebounding with a victory over Amanda Lemos. Godinez, 32, came into UFC 327 on a two-fight winning streak, having defeated Julia Polastri and Jessica Andrade before running into Suarez.
