Heavyweights Shamil Gaziev and Brando Pericic are set to clash on the main card of UFC Fight Night 275 at RAC Arena in Perth, Australia.
Gaziev enters the matchup with a 14-2 MMA record and a 3-2 mark in the UFC. He previously earned back-to-back wins over Don'Tale Mayes and Thomas Petersen before dropping a unanimous decision to Waldo Cortes-Acosta in November, his second loss inside the Octagon.
Pericic brings a 6-1 MMA record and a perfect 2-0 run in the UFC into the bout. The Australian prospect has finished both of his UFC opponents, Elisha Ellison and Louie Sutherland, by first-round stoppage and is described as having home-court advantage in Perth.
The heavyweight contest was booked on shorter than usual notice. Public betting money has moved the line to Pericic -142 and Gaziev +116 via FanDuel.
Gaziev and Pericic are expected to make the walk to the cage at approximately 7:40 a.m. ET, with the fight streaming live on Paramount+. Dan Tom of MMA Junkie provides an analytical breakdown of the matchup, noting Gaziev as a former Dagestani national volleyball team member and highlighting Pericic’s status as an Australian prospect.
