Inclement weather is threatening to disrupt UFC Freedom 250, the high-profile mixed martial arts event scheduled for Sunday night on the White House South Lawn in Washington D.C.
The outdoor card is set to take place under a structure referred to as "The Claw" that covers the Octagon and will be broadcast live on Paramount+. The National Weather Service is forecasting high heat, humidity, thunderstorms, and winds up to 22 mph in Washington D.C. on Sunday, posing risks to the event.
Event planning has already faced issues including federal lawsuits, gnats, canceled musical performances, and construction of "The Claw." UFC has also been accused of staging the event to showcase its relationship with President Donald Trump.
To navigate the looming weather threat, UFC is using an onsite meteorologist to monitor real-time conditions for the White House South Lawn show.
