UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland is attempting to heal his shoulder without surgery after fighting through a serious injury to reclaim the 185-pound title at UFC 328.
Strickland revealed he entered his bout with Khamzat Chimaev with a severely separated shoulder, later confirming it was a Type 2 AC separation with a partial rotator cuff tear. The injury would typically require surgery and an extended recovery.
In a social media video, Strickland described the damage as a “Real small tear,” while also referencing “Type 2 AC separation,” and spoke about “Fixing the muscle tear without going under the knife.”
Strickland has now visited a rehab clinic recommended by Joe Rogan in an effort to avoid surgery. “Joe Rogan got me on this place, he swears by it. We’re gonna get back in the cage soon,” Strickland said.
Strickland’s update comes as he continues treatment on the shoulder following his win over Chimaev at UFC 328.
