13-05-26

UFC 328 delivered major movement in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie rankings, with Sean Strickland and Joshua Van both strengthening their positions at the top of their divisions.

The event took place at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., where Strickland handed Khamzat Chimaev his first professional loss in the main event to claim the middleweight title. Following the win, Strickland rose from No. 3 to No. 1 in the middleweight rankings, while Chimaev dropped to No. 2.

In the flyweight division, Joshua Van recorded his first title defense by stopping Tatsuro Taira in the fifth round. Van entered UFC 328 already ranked No. 1 at flyweight and remains in that spot after the victory.

Despite the loss to Van, Taira holds his position at No. 5 in the flyweight rankings. All of the changes are reflected in the updated USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie rankings following UFC 328.
