Sean Brady is not impressed with how things ended between Sean Strickland and Khamzat Chimaev after their heated UFC 328 title fight at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.
Strickland and Chimaev carried bad blood into their middleweight championship clash, which Strickland won by split decision. Afterward, the two reconciled and showed respect inside the cage, a turn that didn’t sit well with Brady.
Speaking on "The Ariel Helwani Show," Brady said, "If you're talking about my mom, and my children, my religion, I'm fighting you if I see you in the parking lot," and added, "Wherever I see you, it's going to be like Peter Griffin and the rooster in Family Guy: They're always fighting each other. You can't talk about people that way and then be all buddy-buddy about it. I don't like that. I get selling a fight, but there're certain things you just can't say. Once you cross that line, there's no coming back – on some Conor (McGregor vs.) Khabib (Nurmagomedov grudge) sh*t."
Brady emphasized that his criticism comes despite being a supporter of both fighters. "There's certain lines you don't go and cross, and when you do, there's going to be consequences. I'm a fan of Khamzat and Strickland, but once they started dapping each other up in the cage, I was like, you guys just did all that, all this security, all this sh*t talking for that?" he said, adding that he felt "a little let down" and believes, "If you're going to say all these things, you've got to to keep the same energy forever."
Chimaev’s team told ESPN MMA that Chimaev wants a rematch with Strickland.
