Sean Brady Eyes Gabriel Bonfim After UFC Fight Night 278 Upset
07-06-26

Sean Brady has set his sights on Gabriel Bonfim following Bonfim’s dominant win over Belal Muhammad at UFC Fight Night 278 at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas.

Bonfim defeated Muhammad by unanimous decision with 50-45 scores in the main event, handing Muhammad his third straight loss. Bonfim entered the bout ranked No. 11 at welterweight, while Brady currently holds the No. 6 spot and is coming off a recent win over Joaquin Buckley.

Brady revealed that Bonfim has been on his radar for some time. “I was actually thinking before I got the Buckley fight that Bonfim was somebody I would get matched up with,” Brady said. “I've already been studying him. I knew that eventually, we could run into each other.”

Looking ahead to the rankings update, Brady made it clear he’s ready if Bonfim moves up. “I don't know if he's going to be my next fight, but if he's ranked ahead of me on Tuesday, that's a fight I would definitely take. That's what I'm looking for: Anybody inside the top five. That's what I'm hoping for. If he has a number next to his name, it's definitely somebody I'm very interested in.”

Brady also laid out how he views the stylistic challenge. “He's a tough matchup,” Brady said. “He's a big guy for 170 pounds. (He has) good submissions. (He's) good on his feet. But I think I'm the best in the world, and I have to go prove it and beat guys like Gabriel Bonfim.”
