Ronda Rousey Finally Fires Back at Demetrious Johnson Criticism

Ronda Rousey has finally answered Demetrious Johnson’s years-old criticism, speaking out just days before her fight with Gina Carano in Netflix’s first MMA main event.

Back in May 2017, Johnson took aim at Rousey in a Sports Illustrated Q&A interview, saying, "You look at Ronda Rousey. You got your ass beat, grow the f*ck up," and adding, "Everybody f*cking loses. It’s part of the sport. Grow up. Look, Ronda, you lost two f*cking fights in a row, and you made more f*cking money than the women’s roster. You’ll be fine. Don’t worry about it."

Rousey did not respond publicly for nine years, but recently addressed Johnson’s remarks in an Instagram video posted by All the Smoke. "F*ck you, DJ, OK?" Rousey said. "I was totally cool about you, and I put you over, and you were being – you said some nasty ass sh*t about me."

Rousey’s comments arrive as she prepares to face Gina Carano on Saturday at Intuit Dome in Inglewood, Calif., in a bout promoted by Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions and billed as Netflix’s first MMA main event.

Rousey previously suffered a 48-second TKO loss to Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 and a knockout loss to Holly Holm, after which she largely withdrew from public discussion of her career-ending skid and did not return to the UFC, instead moving on to professional wrestling with WWE.
