Robelis Despaigne delivered a first-round knockout of Junior dos Santos in what was described as the first ever MMA fight broadcast on Netflix, under the Karate Combat banner.

The heavyweight clash ended at 2:59 of the opening round after referee Frank Trigg stepped in to stop the fight when Despaigne dropped the former UFC heavyweight champion with punches.

“I’m so happy for the work I’ve been doing to get here,” Despaigne said after the win. Detailing the finishing sequence, he added, “I saw him stumbling and he kicked me on the legs first and I kept calm, I saw him stumbling and that’s when I struck.”

Despaigne, who recently became champion in Karate Combat and previously competed in the UFC, made it clear he wants to stay active in both arenas. “This is a sport I like but I do have to thank Karate Combat for getting me here today. I want to do both. I want Francis Ngnanou to win and I want to go for a belt in this company.”
