Report: Hype Brazil Accused of Withholding Fighter and Staff Payments

Hype Brazil is under fire after a new report alleged the promotion has failed to pay fighters, staff, and promoters from its most recent events.

According to MMA Fighting, 17 fighters who competed across two Hype Brazil cards all reported they had not received payment. The outlet also reported that staff members and celebrities hired to promote the shows were not compensated.

The report states that Hype Brazil officials allegedly threatened to withhold money from fighters who complained on social media. The most recent Hype Brazil card reportedly ended more than a month before the report was published, with payments still outstanding at that time.

The situation was contrasted with RAC in the original article, where fighters have reportedly been paid as expected, and was presented as an example of the risks athletes face when signing on with smaller or pop-up promotions.
