Renato Moicano got back in the win column in emphatic fashion, submitting teammate Chris Duncan in the main event of UFC Fight Night 272 at the Meta APEX.
Moicano defeated Duncan by rear-naked choke at 3:14 of Round 2, snapping his own two-fight losing streak and halting Duncan’s four-fight winning run.
Both fighters, who train together at American Top Team, shared the spotlight in the headliner, but it was Moicano’s sharp jab and grappling that proved decisive. He used those tools to dominate Duncan before locking in the fight-ending choke.
Moicano entered the bout coming off consecutive losses to Islam Makhachev and Beneil Dariush, including a title fight against Makhachev that he accepted on a day’s notice. The win over Duncan gives him a crucial rebound on a big stage.
