Renato Moicano used his UFC Fight Night 272 main event win over Chris Duncan at Meta APEX on Saturday to reignite his rivalry with Brian Ortega and call for a high-profile rematch.
Moicano, who previously lost to Ortega by third-round submission in 2017, made it clear in his post-fight comments that the featherweight contender is at the top of his list. "There is one motherf*cker I have bad blood (with)," Moicano said. "His name is Ortega. Brian Ortega, man: He runs the first time. I was beating him the first time. He got me. Fair enough. It was my first defeat. But now I want revenge. I want his head. I want his head. I want to kill this motherf*cker."
Moicano said a planned March rematch with Ortega fell through. "I was supposed to fight him last month and then he pulled out," he said, before pushing for the matchup on home soil. "I think it's fair to say we need to settle this thing. We need to fight him, especially in Brazil. I know the UFC is coming back to Brazil. So let's do Ortega vs. Moicano."
Beyond Ortega, Moicano made it clear he is now targeting opponents with more name recognition, mentioning Paddy Pimblett, Dan Hooker, and Benoit Saint Denis as options. "I think it should be a fight I can promote, like Ortega, likePaddy Pimblett, like Dan Hooker, maybe Benoit Saint Denis, maybe somebody the fans know," Moicano said, adding that "the guy needs to at least have some hype" for his next move in the UFC.
