Sarvarjon Khamidov left Pechanga Arena San Diego with his first PFL win, but it came amid immediate controversy in his bantamweight prelim against Justin Wetzell at PFL San Diego.
Khamidov secured a rear-naked choke in Round 2, prompting referee Blake Grice to step in when Wetzell’s arm briefly went limp. The stoppage came at the 4:11 mark of the round and was followed right away by a protest from Wetzell.
With the result, Khamidov moves to a listed record of 17-1 and opens his PFL campaign with a victory. Wetzell, described as a 2025 PFL World Tournament runner-up, now sees his listed record at 12-4 and has dropped two fights in a row.
