Rafael Fiziev used his UFC Baku main event spotlight to do more than just finish a fight, following up his knockout of Manuel Torres with sharp criticism of the promotion’s new Meta A.I. rankings.
Fiziev scored a main event knockout win over Torres on Saturday in Baku, despite not being included in the top 15 of the newly introduced rankings before the fight.
Speaking after the victory, Fiziev made his feelings on the system clear, saying, "New rankings system is elephant shit," and adding, "What message [to the division]? Everybody knows me. Everybody knows that I fight with the champion twice."
Fiziev entered the Torres matchup with one win in his previous five contests, with two of those outings going to competitive decisions against current lightweight champion Justin Gaethje.
When asked about his place in the title picture, Fiziev pushed back. "Oh, no, bro," he said. "I’m far away from the champion, bro. Like no, for sure. No. I don’t like talking about the miracle stuff. So I’m far away from him. But I think I have a name for ‘BMF,’ maybe."
