Plinio Cruz Negotiating Misfits Title Shot For Late Summer Return
27-04-26

Plinio Cruz is lining up a surprise return to competition, revealing he is negotiating to fight for a Misfits belt between August and September.

Cruz, who fought professionally from 2008 to 2019 and holds an 8-9 MMA record, says talks with Misfits have produced a promising offer for a comeback at the end of the American summer. Misfits currently lists Dillon Danis as its MMA champion on its webpage.

“I turned 40 and I started to lose weight here, chilling,” Cruz said. “I started training and ‘Poatan’ started talking to me about fighting again. So I said the offer has to be good for me to put my cigar on the table and sign the contract. Then there came a good offer that we’re negotiating with Misfits. So most likely I’ll be fighting for the Misfits belt at the end of the American summer, which would be between August and September.”

Cruz is known as Alex Pereira’s coach, translator, and close friend, and has previously competed from middleweight all the way up to super heavyweight in promotions including Bellator, M-1 Global, and Cage Fury. Team Pereira currently features Alex Pereira in UFC, Aline Pereira on MVP MMA 1, and Plinio Cruz now linked to Misfits.

“So I’ll get ‘Poatan’ ready, I will help make him a champion, then it’s dad’s turn, right? Stay tuned, Daddy’s back.”

Alex Pereira is scheduled to fight Ciryl Gane for the interim heavyweight title at UFC White House on June 14th.
