Paulo Costa has set his sights on UFC middleweight champion Khamzat Chimaev, making it clear he wants the unbeaten star to meet him at light heavyweight.
Costa, a former UFC title challenger, recently moved up to 205 pounds and knocked out Azamat Murzakanov at UFC 327. With Chimaev having discussed a potential move to light heavyweight, Costa is already positioning himself as a welcoming party in the new division.
"I just wish he comes to 205," Costa said. "I'm going to be here with my arms open, waiting for him. This is going to be even worse for him. At 205, I'm a monster. I don't need to burn any muscle, I don't need to sacrifice any muscle of my body to make 185. At 205, I have full 'secret juice' power. That is going to be tragic for him."
Costa has repeatedly called out Chimaev, who is scheduled to defend his middleweight title against Sean Strickland in the UFC 328 main event on May 9 in Newark, N.J. Costa holds a professional record of 16-4 in MMA and 8-4 in the UFC, while Chimaev is 15-0 in MMA and 9-0 in the UFC.
