Oleksandr Usyk Set for WBC Heavyweight Defense vs Rico Verhoeven in Egypt

Oleksandr Usyk is set to defend his WBC heavyweight title against Rico Verhoeven at the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt on Saturday, May 23.

The championship bout will headline a card that begins at 10 a.m. ET, with the main card scheduled for noon ET and the Usyk vs. Verhoeven main event targeted for 5:48 p.m. ET. The entire event will be broadcast live on DAZN.

Usyk enters the defense with a 24-0 boxing record, including 15 wins by knockout. He captured the undisputed heavyweight crown with a victory over Daniel Dubois in July 2025 and is also a former undisputed cruiserweight champion.

Verhoeven, known as "The King of Kickboxing," reigned as GLORY Kickboxing Heavyweight Champion for 12 years with 13 successful title defenses. He is now transitioning from kickboxing to boxing and aims to win the heavyweight world championship.
