Nate Landwehr Targets Redemption Against Retiring Cub Swanson at UFC 327

Nate Landwehr will look to snap his skid when he faces Cub Swanson at UFC 327, in what Swanson has announced will be the final bout of his 21-year professional career.

The featherweight clash is set to kick off Saturday’s main card at Kaseya Center, with Landwehr entering the matchup on a two-fight losing streak against Doo Ho Choi and Morgan Charriere.

Landwehr said this is a matchup he’s had his eye on since arriving in the promotion. "Coming into the UFC from M-1 Global, that was the fight I kind of wanted. We're about to find out Saturday night. We're just two guys. It's going to be like two guys at a baseball game with their sons. We're going to figure it out."

He acknowledged the narrative around Swanson’s retirement, but kept the focus on himself. "That's his storyline," Landwehr said. "That ain't got nothing to do with me. Everything to do with me and I've got my own storyline, and we're going to figure it out. ... I'm trying to get it. I'm trying to go out there and throw hands and get on this winning streak."

Reflecting on his mindset ahead of UFC 327, Landwehr added, "I was just questioning like, 'Am I getting old?' Then they called, and I'm like, 'Well, he's older,'" and summed up his view of the sport: "When you're about to step into that fight, you throw that paper away. We're fighters out here. We're real. When bone hits bone, and you get to bleeding, and your heart rate is up there, this is as real as you can get before it's murder."
