Nate Diaz has taken aim at Charles Oliveira, accusing the new BMF titleholder of brushing off a potential fight with him while pivoting toward a Conor McGregor matchup instead.
According to Diaz, he called for a fight with Oliveira after "Do Bronx" became BMF champion by defeating Max Holloway in March, but says the former lightweight champ declined.
"Oliveira got the belt and I was waiting for shit to happen," Diaz said. He added that when he respectfully asked for the matchup, Oliveira responded, "no, thanks homie. [He said] ‘I’m trying to fight for titles and do all this big shit’ and I’m like OK, you got me on that. I don’t have the belt and I’m like you could say that you little f*cker."
Diaz then criticized Oliveira for later showing interest in McGregor instead. "Because you’re right there and then he won f*cking one fight and then he called out Conor. That’s exactly what I thought when he called out Conor. Why are you trying to fight the guy who’s coming off a leg break, just got knocked out and he’s all f*cked up and f*cking on a downward spiral and you’re over here like ‘no thanks, homie, I’m trying to do bigger things.’"
Diaz is set to face Mike Perry in the co-main event of Saturday’s Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano card. He has stated he is not currently interested in fighting McGregor or Dustin Poirier due to their recent losses and circumstances.
