Nate Diaz is facing a lengthy layoff after his loss to Mike Perry at MVP MMA 1, with the California State Athletic Commission issuing the veteran a potential 180-day medical suspension.
The suspension stems from a possible fracture to a finger on Diaz’s left hand. He must also be cleared by a physician for a scalp and forehead laceration or he will receive a 60-day suspension. Diaz fell to Perry by corner-stoppage TKO after the second round of their co-main event at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood this past Saturday.
Perry received a mandatory minimum seven-day suspension from the commission. The California State Athletic Commission issued medical suspensions for the entire MVP MMA 1 card, with the list obtained by MMA Junkie on Monday.
In the headliner, Ronda Rousey defeated Gina Carano by armbar submission in 17 seconds, and both were handed mandatory minimum seven-day suspensions. Heavyweight Philipe Lins was given a 30-day suspension after being knocked out by Francis Ngannou in their third main event bout.
