Muhammad Mokaev Insists He’d Be UFC Champion, Targets Joshua Van
06-06-26

Muhammad Mokaev believes he should already be wearing UFC gold and is making his case loudly ahead of his next appearance outside the promotion.

Despite going 7-0 in the UFC and holding an overall 15-0 record at the time, Mokaev was not re-signed by the organization after defeating Manel Kape at UFC 304 in July 2024. Since then, he has gone 3-0, including winning the inaugural Brave CF flyweight title last November, and now says his skills stack up with the current UFC flyweight king.

"I could be champion (in the UFC) today," Mokaev said, pointing directly at current titleholder Joshua Van, who is 17-2 in MMA and 10-1 in the UFC. "I love my career, and today, there's a champion named Joshua Van. So my confidence, and how much I love my career, I'm ready to retire if I don't beat this guy. That is how confident I am that I could be champion today. Easy fight, easy money. I believe this is right now the perfect fight for me, and I can beat him 10 out of 10 times."

Mokaev, who holds wins over four ranked UFC flyweights, is set for a bantamweight bout against Jorge Calvo at WOW 31. The event is scheduled to take place at Madrid Arena in Spain.
