Michael Page has set his sights on a potential welterweight showdown with Conor McGregor, provided the Irish star remains at 170 pounds after UFC 329.
McGregor is scheduled to rematch Max Holloway in a welterweight main event at UFC 329 on Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Page, who has competed at both middleweight and welterweight since joining the UFC and most recently earned a decision win over Sam Patterson at 170 pounds at UFC Fight Night 270, believes a future matchup with McGregor makes sense if the former champion stays in the division.
"All the dangers I said I'm going to put myself in at middleweight are exactly what he puts himself in fighting me at 170, as well as me being way more awkward than anybody he's ever fought in his life," Page said in an interview with Thunderpick. "He will never come up against somebody like me ever again. If he was to stay at 170, and that was an opportunity, 100 percent my hand would be up. I'm happy to cut the weight down and kick him in the face."
Page also weighed in on the UFC 329 headliner itself, leaning toward Holloway in the rematch. "You have to favor Max," Page said, pointing to McGregor's layoff and adding, "McGregor is always going to have that McGregor effect, but you're always going to favor the more consistent fighter."
