Michael Bisping Now Sees Paddy Pimblett as Major Threat to Topuria
16-07-26

Michael Bisping believes Paddy Pimblett has emerged as a far more serious problem for Ilia Topuria following UFC 329.

Pimblett quickly submitted Benoit Saint Denis in Saturday's co-main event at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, rebounding from an interim title loss to Justin Gaethje. He is scheduled for a grudge match with former UFC lightweight champion Ilia Topuria, with whom he has a history of personal animosity.

On Pimblett’s next move, Bisping said, "It isn't going to be Justin Gaethje for Paddy Pimblett next," but emphasized the options ahead: "But don't worry, because there is nothing but a litany of challenges and people that he can go up against, and oh my God, he deserves them all. If it was a rematch with Justin Gaethje, I wouldn't care. Ilia Topuria, of course they have so much history. They do not like each other. The 'Chorizo,' the 'Hand sanitizer boy,' you name it, they've talked a lot of sh*t at one another."

Bisping highlighted Pimblett’s presence and recent performance when sizing up a potential clash with Topuria. "They squared up in the UFC's octagon. Paddy looked absolutely gigantic, and after just doing what he did to Benoit Saint Denis, I don't know if Ilia would want that fight. However, you can't forget about Ilia Topuria and everything that he achieved just because he lost to Justin Gaethje. If anything, he's going to come back a better version of himself, and him vs. Paddy would be absolutely gigantic."
