Max Holloway Owns Oliveira Loss While Eyeing McGregor Rematch at UFC 329

Max Holloway is turning the page from a tough night against Charles Oliveira as he heads into a high-profile rematch with Conor McGregor at UFC 329.

Holloway describes his last outing as a one-sided loss to Oliveira for the BMF belt, saying the Brazilian took him down and controlled him on the ground for five rounds. The approach drew criticism from some fans, but Holloway refused to join in.

"To just put it plain and simple, I’m not a complainer, so I’m not going to complain," Holloway said. He added, "So many people were used to that aura with the lineage of the belt. But you can’t be mad at Charles because he went out there and just did what he thought he should do to win."

Holloway instead put the responsibility on himself, noting that Oliveira "fought a different fight" and still got the win. Looking ahead, Holloway believes his style keeps him in major spots like the McGregor rematch.

"It proves a point: in the UFC, it’s not even [about] winning in the sport," Holloway said. "Winning is great, winning is awesome, but how many times do we see guys winning, and they don’t get certain opportunities? You gotta win in the sport, but you gotta win excitingly. We are in the entertainment business."
