Max Holloway Breaks Down Conor McGregor Showdown at UFC 329
21-05-26

Max Holloway has opened up on his blockbuster welterweight clash with Conor McGregor, set for UFC 329 on July 11 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Holloway, a former UFC featherweight champion and BMF titleholder at 155 pounds, will move to welterweight for the first time to face McGregor in a bout where he is considered a significant betting favorite. The matchup is a rematch of their first meeting at UFC Fight Night 26 in August 2013, which McGregor won. Holloway said he has known about the fight for several months before it became official.

Despite the odds, Holloway made it clear he is not underestimating McGregor. "It's a hard fight," he said. "Conor's still dangerous. You'd be dumb as hell to think he's not."

The Hawaiian star is also embracing the move up in weight. "I'm excited," Holloway said. "I get to eat good all of camp. I get to eat what I want to eat. Imagine I miss weight at 170? Holy sh*t."

When it comes to McGregor’s trademark bravado, Holloway indicated he expected nothing less. "Of course (I expected him to talk trash)," he said. "Why wouldn't his mic skills be the same? Why wouldn't they be?"

Holloway enters UFC 329 with records of 27-9 in MMA and 23-9 in the UFC, while McGregor holds marks of 22-6 in MMA and 10-4 in the UFC.
