Max Griffin says his run with the promotion has come to an end, announcing that he has been officially released from the UFC roster.
Griffin revealed the news after his most recent outing at UFC Vegas 116 in April, where he dropped a unanimous decision to Victor Valenzuela. That result marked his third straight defeat and his fifth loss in his past seven fights.
"I have been officially cut from the UFC," Griffin said, before reflecting on his decade in the organization. "First off, I want to thank UFC for all these years. Ten years, mind you, in the fight business. … But my shit ain’t over. I still want to fight. My last few fights have been some shoddy decisions. It’s the name of the game, baby. It’s business, man. Yeah, it’s rough, but it is what it is. I still want to fight, I still want to whoop n*ggas asses for money. I still got it."
Griffin has had 33 professional fights, 19 of them in the UFC since joining the promotion in 2016. He leaves with an 8-11 record inside the Octagon, going to a decision 14 times and suffering two losses by knockout or submission.
During his tenure, Griffin put together a stretch where he won four of five, including victories over Carlos Condit, Tim Means, and a 2018 decision win over Mike Perry.
