Max Griffin Announces UFC Release After Nineteen-Fight Run
28-05-26

Max Griffin says his decade-long run with the UFC has come to an end, revealing that the promotion has released him following his most recent outing.

Griffin’s departure comes on the heels of an April 25 unanimous decision loss to Victor Valenzuela. The 40-year-old exits the organization with an 8-11 record in the UFC and a 20-13 overall mark, competing nineteen times for the promotion over roughly ten years.

Despite the news, Griffin made it clear he has no plans to walk away from the sport. “My sh*t ain't over,” he said, adding, “I still want to fight. My last few fights have been some shotty decisions, which is the name of the game, baby. It's the name of the game. ... It's business, man. Yeah, it's rough. It's rough, but it is what it is. I still want to fight.”

During his UFC tenure, Griffin earned a Performance of the Night bonus for a TKO of Kenan Song in March 2021 and a Fight of the Night bonus against Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos. He also picked up wins over Mike Perry, Ramiz Brahimaj, Carlos Condit, Tim Means, and Jeremiah Wells.
