Matheus Camilo Targets Nazim Sadykhov in Baku UFC Showdown
26-06-26

Matheus Camilo is set to face Nazim Sadykhov in a UFC Fight Night bout in Baku, Azerbaijan, as the 25-year-old lightweight continues his rise inside the Octagon.

Camilo earned his UFC contract in 2024 after a win over Dorobshokh Nabotov in South Korea, then secured his first UFC victory in November 2025 by decision against Slava Borshchev. He now meets Sadykhov, who is coming off a second-round knockout loss to Fares Ziam in 2025 after beginning his UFC run with five unbeaten fights and three Fight of the Night bonuses.

Looking ahead to Sadykhov, Camilo said, "I think any fighter coming off a loss already feels more pressure, especially when they’re fighting at home," and added, "I believe he’s going to be under a lot of pressure. And from what I’ve seen in his fights, like when he fought Fares, he kind of falls apart as soon as his opponent starts mixing up the striking with takedowns. I think that’s the path to victory."

Camilo, who lives in Las Vegas and had his first two UFC fights in the United States, is embracing the challenge of competing in Azerbaijan. "The energy here is second to none," he said. "I can’t wait to fight here. When you’re competing somewhere like this, you have to step outside your usual world and focus entirely on the fight. It takes you out of your comfort zone, you know? I really enjoy that."

"The feeling I have being here, brother, is gratitude," Camilo added. "I’m very happy for the opportunity they’ve given me, and I’m really excited."
