Matchroom Talent Agency has added a major UFC name to its roster, announcing the signing of welterweight title challenger Ian Machado Garry.
Garry is scheduled to face Islam Makhachev for the UFC welterweight title on Aug. 15 in the UFC 330 main event in Philadelphia, and now links up with Matchroom Talent Agency in a deal focused on his commercial profile outside the cage.
"The news is huge, and the news is that we have signed Ian Machado Garry to the Matchroom Talent Agency and to joinTom Aspinallas the second UFC fighter," Eddie Hearn said as the signing was made official. He added, "With Ian, this is comercially. This is about building his brand and driving revenue to him with partners. This is purely to work on his profile and his commercial brand. We're really, really pleased to do it."
Garry, who will continue working with VaynerSports, welcomed the move, stating, "Congratulations @matchroomtalentagency you’ve signed THE FUTURE. I’m excited to announce Team Future just Got Bigger. Alongside @vaynersports I’ll be joining The Matchroom Talent Agency - who will now work across my commercial interests."
Matchroom Talent Agency previously entered MMA management with UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall, marking Garry as the second UFC fighter to sign with the group as Hearn expands his work beyond boxing promotion.
