Kyle Daukaus is targeting a breakthrough victory when he meets Bo Nickal at UFC Freedom 250, an event set to take place at the White House.
Daukaus, 17-4 overall and 4-4 in the UFC, is in his second stint with the promotion and enters the matchup riding momentum from a blistering return. He finished Michel Pereira in 43 seconds and Gerald Meerschaert in 50 seconds, and believes the Nickal booking is a deliberate test.
"You really didn't know who he was going to get off the card. I feel like they're trying to test him against me to see how well he does, and it's my job to go out there Sunday and prove they're kind of wrong about him," Daukaus said. "All this stuff is noise to me. It's not anything personal or whatever. Sunday night when the cage door closes, it's just me and him in there. He has the support of them outside, but that doesn't really bother me at all."
After going 3-0 for CFFC on the regional scene to earn a short-notice UFC return in August, Daukaus says his current form speaks for itself. "I'm a talented guy. I know I'm very talented. I have the capability to go out there and win. I have stackable proof behind me right now that shows I started out 9-0. I'm on a six-fight winning streak right now," he said.
Looking ahead to Sunday, Daukaus added, "I think I'll get my appreciation off the win."
