King Green is embracing both the tension and the spotlight ahead of his showdown with Terrance McKinney at UFC 329 at T-Mobile Arena.
Green, 39, enters the bout riding a three-fight UFC winning streak over the past seven months and brings a 35-17-1 professional record, including 16-12-1 in the UFC. McKinney stands at 18-8 in MMA and 8-5 in the UFC, with a 100 percent finish rate and all but one of his wins coming by first-round stoppage.
Sizing up McKinney’s style, Green said, "He's a quick pumper," before adding, "(He's like), 'Ahhhh, ahhhhhh! Baby, I'm done.' Get out of here. I'll fight for a while. We're going the distance. We'll see where it goes, but I come to fight. I come to fight a long time, not just one round." Green also described his opponent by saying, "Terrence is a wild card," and, "He wins fights I think he shouldn't have won, and then I think he loses fights that you think he would win. He's a wild card. What you get is what you get. You never know."
Green, who has more than 50 professional fights of experience, believes staying active is key to maintaining his form and is motivated by doubters. "I'm still kicking ass at 39. It's cool. But for me, I think it's more so proving everybody wrong," he said, adding, "Everybody that looked at and thought I was done, and there's been a lot of people that wrote me off... It is what it is, but at least I get my little bit of revenge."
