Kamaru Usman is firmly behind Most Valuable Promotions’ first-ever MMA event, which is set to debut May 16 at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, Calif., headlined by Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano.
The inaugural card from Most Valuable Promotions will stream on Netflix and also features former UFC fighters Francis Ngannou, Nate Diaz, and Junior Dos Santos, along with Muhammad Mokaev and KSW champion Salahdine Parnasse.
Usman, a former UFC welterweight champion, discussed the event on his podcast with Henry Cejudo and made it clear he likes what he’s seeing from Jake Paul’s push into MMA through Most Valuable Promotions. “It's going to be an incredible night,” Usman said, later adding, “Pound 4 Pound”.
“I think this is great for the sport of mixed martial arts – a new promotion to really shine a light on the sport of mixed martial arts. I think it's all a win-win for everybody here to get the opportunity, and for the sport,” Usman said of the Netflix-streamed event.
“The sport wins this night. It's not this promotion vs. this promotion. I think it's the sport as a whole that wins, especially giving an opportunity to more and more fighters to be able to do their thing. I am going to be tuned in, May 16, watching.”
