Kamaru Usman Picks Brock Lesnar Over Jon Jones in Wrestling Match

Kamaru Usman has stirred up a heavyweight hypothetical, publicly siding with Brock Lesnar over Jon Jones in a potential wrestling match and drawing a sharp response from the former UFC heavyweight champion.

Speaking at an RAF event and later discussing the matchup on a podcast, Usman broke down why he leans toward Lesnar in the grappling scenario. “This is a tough one, I would have to go with Brock, even though I think Jon is probably going to be a little bit more offensive,” Usman said.

He expanded on the size factor in Lesnar’s favor. “I just think those limbs, shooting underneath a guy as big as Brock Lesnar, trying to get him down… he could stay in his stance, and he could hand fight — which at heavyweight definitely weighs a guy down.” Henry Cejudo, who was part of the same discussion, picked Jones in the same hypothetical matchup.

Jones fired back on social media, dismissing the idea that he’d be outgunned. “I’m getting my hand raised against you and Brock at the same time,” he wrote.

Jones vacated the UFC heavyweight title in June and has since re-entered the UFC drug-testing pool. He has given conflicting indications about whether he is retired from mixed martial arts competition, while UFC CEO Dana White has said multiple times he would not allow Jones to compete on a White House lawn event card.

On the other side of the fantasy matchup, former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar indicated he was retiring from WWE after losing to Oba Femi at WrestleMania 42.
