Jose Ochoa Batters Clayton Carpenter, Proposes in Cage at UFC 328
12-05-26

Jose Ochoa walked out of UFC 328 with a dominant win and a fiancée, defeating Clayton Carpenter by unanimous decision and then proposing during his post-fight interview inside the cage.

The bout opened the prelims at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., where Ochoa bloodied and battered Carpenter over the course of three rounds to secure the judges’ nod.

After the victory, Ochoa revealed his proposal was accepted, saying, "Obviously she said yes. She was just waiting for the right moment," before reflecting on the performance and those closest to him. "I’m very happy with my performance and this victory. I knew no matter what that I was going to take the victory home, and I’m even happier to dedicate this win to my father, my team and my whole family."

Ochoa, who had his father in his corner for the fight, described the result as expected. "I’m happy with everything I did," he said. "I’m not surprised by anything that happened inside the cage. I thought I was going to get a knockout, but it went the full 15 minutes. I’m prepared for that, too."

With the win, Ochoa moves to 9-2 professionally and 2-2 in the UFC, and has now gone the distance in three of his four UFC bouts. Carpenter falls to 8-3 overall and 2-3 in the promotion.
