Former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo stepped into a different kind of spotlight in Rio de Janeiro, attending a fan event for Disney's upcoming live-action reboot of Moana.
Aldo was on hand with his family for the promotional gathering, where he met Dwayne Johnson, who voiced Maui in the original animated Moana and returns for the live-action version opposite Catherine Laga'aia.
During the meeting, Aldo presented Johnson with a gift. Johnson, who has received critical praise for his performance as Mark Kerr in the feature film The Smashing Machine, told Aldo that he counts both Aldo and Anderson Silva among his favorite fighters.
Aldo, in turn, praised Johnson's portrayal of Kerr, adding an MMA connection to a Hollywood project that has already drawn attention within the combat sports world.
