Jorge Masvidal says he is in talks with the UFC about a potential return fight against Leon Edwards but claims the sides are still apart on money.

Masvidal wants his comeback to be against Edwards and says negotiations have been ongoing. "We've been talking for a minute, it's just that we haven't landed on that thing," Masvidal said, calling the matchup "low-hanging fruit for the UFC," before adding, "Just give me what I'm asking for, and we're good to go, man."

He described the process with the promotion this way: "You guys know better how the UFC works. I love them to death, but man, they make you work for every single thing. It's always not quite what you wanted it to be a lot of the time, but we'll get something done."

Masvidal made it clear he is ready to move quickly if the bout is booked. "If they give me the Leon fight, I would get down to 170 by tomorrow," he said. "I would like that fight. He doesn't have anything scheduled."

Dustin Poirier suggested on the "Deep Waters" show that Masvidal vs. Edwards take place during UFC International Fight Week in July. Separately, Daniel Rodriguez claimed he was given a contract to fight Edwards at UFC 329 on July 11 in Las Vegas and has accepted.

Masvidal, described as the original BMF champion, has a long-standing grudge with Edwards after striking him backstage at a UFC event in 2016 in a widely viewed incident.
