John Yannis Steps In to Face Marcus McGhee at UFC Fight Night 278
13-05-26

Marcus McGhee has a new opponent for UFC Fight Night 278, as John Yannis steps in to replace injured bantamweight Jakub Wiklacz on the June 6 card at Meta APEX in Las Vegas.

McGhee will meet Yannis in a bantamweight bout after Wiklacz was forced to withdraw due to injury. The matchup pits McGhee’s 10-2 MMA, 4-1 UFC record against Yannis’ 10-4 MMA, 1-1 UFC slate.

McGhee has not competed since a unanimous decision loss to Petr Yan in July. Before that setback, he was undefeated in the UFC with wins over Journey Newson, JP Buys, Gaston Bolanos, and Jonathan Martinez.

Yannis enters the fight coming off his first UFC victory, a first-round knockout of Jamie Siraj on April 18 in Winnipeg, Canada, which followed a promotional debut loss to Austin Bashi.
