Joanderson Brito walked out of UFC Fight Night 278 in Las Vegas with a first-round submission win and an eye on getting right back to work.
Brito submitted Jordan Leavitt in Round 1 with a front choke at Meta APEX, giving him back-to-back victories and marking what he said was his 10th fight in the UFC.
"It's honestly pretty hard for me to say why. I was just excited at the moment," Brito said of his post-fight emotions. "I wasn't even supposed to go up on the cage and that happened, too. I was just super motivated, super happy for my win. Overall, I'm just super happy. It's also my 10th fight in the UFC, so I'm just super happy to be here."
Brito noted he once tried to secure a fight with Dan Ige but has since moved on. "Dan Ige is not really on my mind any more," he said. "When I threw the cards at him, I didn't really get a reply back. I'm just super happy that I'm in the biggest organization in the planet. I'm just ready to plan again. ... The fight on June 20th. 'LokDog' (Vinicius Oliveira), his opponent seemed like they talked off and Fili took it. I'm already here, so if the UFC wants me there, I'm ready."
