Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz has been forced out of his featured prelim fight at UFC 328 in New Jersey after suffering a torn meniscus during sparring.

Blachowicz revealed the injury and his withdrawal on Instagram, explaining that it happened in the final stages of his preparation for the May 9th event. The bout was set to be a rematch following his draw against Bogdan Guskov at UFC 323, but there is currently no announcement on whether Guskov will remain on the UFC 328 card.

“I was supposed to be in the States next week, but plans had to change. I’m beyond pissed. Last round of sparring, wrong position and a kick to the knee. Torn meniscus,” Blachowicz wrote. He added, “The plan and goal were clear, so the disappointment is huge. But this isn’t the end! I’m already working on getting back as soon as possible.”

Blachowicz also posted, “Don’t count your chickens before they hatch,” and signed off with a message to fans: “Coming back to finish things on my own terms,” and “See you soon! Oss.”

Blachowicz has fought three times since 2023, going 0-2-1 in that span, and has previously dealt with a neck injury in 2022 and a double shoulder injury in 2024. He holds an overall record of 29-11-2, is 12-8 in the UFC, and held the UFC light heavyweight title from 2020 to 2021.
