Former UFC welterweight champion Jack Della Maddalena will return to the spotlight in his home country as he headlines Saturday’s UFC Perth event against Carlos Prates in a five-round main event at RAC Arena.
Della Maddalena and Prates had their first faceoff on Tuesday ahead of their matchup, which marks the first fight for both since competing at UFC 322 in November.
Prates, who is 6-1 in the UFC, is entering his second promotional headliner after a run that includes consecutive knockouts of Leon Edwards and Geoff Neal. His UFC Perth bout with Della Maddalena follows a previous competitive main event loss to Ian Machado Garry in the UFC Kansas City headliner.
Della Maddalena, known to some as “JDM,” steps back into a main event slot after losing his first UFC title defense at 170 pounds to Islam Makhachev in the main event at Madison Square Garden.
Prates, nicknamed “The Nightmare,” will look to build on his recent momentum as he shares the marquee with Della Maddalena in Perth.
