05-05-26

Jack Della Maddalena will look to rebound in front of a home crowd when he faces Carlos Prates in the UFC Perth main event at RAC Arena in Perth, Western Australia, on Saturday, May 2.

Della Maddalena defends his status at the top of the division after a five-round loss to Islam Makhachev in his first welterweight title defense at UFC 322. He previously became champion after a five-round fight with Belal Muhammad, and also went through hard three-round battles with Bassil Hafez and Kevin Holland before stopping Gilbert Burns late in the third round of their bout.

Across the cage, Carlos Prates enters UFC Perth having won six of seven UFC fights and earning Performance of the Night bonuses in each of his victories.

The main card in Perth is stacked with Beneil Dariush vs. Quillan Salkilld, Tim Elliott vs. Steve Erceg, Marwan Rahiki vs. Ollie Schmid, Shamil Gaziev vs. Brando Pericic, and Tai Tuivasa vs. Louie Sutherland. Describing his own style ahead of the event, Tim Elliott used a single word: "awkward".

Jack Jenkins was originally scheduled to face Marwan Rahiki but withdrew due to injury and was replaced by Ollie Schmid on less than a week’s notice.

UFC Perth opens with a seven-fight early preliminary card starting at 4 a.m. ET, followed by a six-fight main card at 7 a.m. ET, streaming live on Paramount+.
