Islam Makhachev vs. Ian Machado Garry Welterweight Title Set for UFC 330
17-06-26

Islam Makhachev is set to defend his welterweight title against Ian Machado Garry in the main event of UFC 330 on Aug. 15 at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia.

The UFC announced that Makhachev, who captured the 170-pound belt by decision against Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 322, will headline the card against Garry. The challenger rebounded from a loss to Shavkat Rakhmonov with wins over Belal Muhammad and Carlos Prates.

Garry, known by the nickname "The Future," enters UFC 330 after starting his career 15-0 before the setback against Rakhmonov.

Makhachev previously held the UFC lightweight title and defended it four consecutive times before vacating the belt and moving to welterweight. He now carries a 28-1 record and a 16-fight winning streak since his lone loss in 2015.

In the co-main event, Mackenzie Dern will defend her strawweight title against Gillian Robertson. Dern claimed the vacant championship by defeating Virna Jandiroba at UFC 321 after Zhang Weili left the division to pursue a fight with Valentina Shevchenko.

Robertson has gone 6-1 since moving to strawweight and rides a five-fight winning streak, including a decision victory over Amanda Lemos in March.
